Next Weekend – Day for Life

Second Collection next weekend is for Day for Life the day in the Church’s year dedicated to raising awareness about the meaning and value of human life at every stage and in every condition. Thank you for your generosity.


Sacrament of Confirmation: Congratulations to all of our young people who received the Sacrament of Confirmation in the parish last weekend– Please keep them in your prayers as they continue on their faith journey. Also thank you to the Confirmation Team who helped to prepared them.

Please keep our children in your prayers this weekend and over the next few weeks as they make final preparations to receive Jesus in Holy Communion for the first time. May these Gifts of God help them to grow in faith as they follow the Lord and remain in his good service in all things.

Parish Lunch: Our Parish Lunch takes place TODAY 14th June in the main hall at St Joseph’s from 12.30pm and will be hosted by our Filipino Group. All are very welcome, bring your own drinks, no charge, donations welcome.

Refugee Week (15-21 June) begins on Monday, offering people across the UK an opportunity to recognise the contributions, resilience and dignity of refugees and those who are seeking sanctuary. This year’s theme is “Courage”, which aims to highlight the strength of those who have been forced to flee their homes in search of safety and a new beginning. Bishop Paul McAleenan, the Lead Bishop for Migrants and Refugees for the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, said: “As we celebrate Refugee Week… we acknowledge the resilience and hope shown by refugees and asylum seekers. Grandparents Pilgrimage – Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation & St Francis, West Grinstead. Wed 17 June, 11am–3pm. Summer Fayre at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Saturday 20 June, 12pm-3pm. There is still space for a few more stallholders at the fayre – if you would like to have a stall or would like any promotional materials displayed at the fayre, please contact the organisers at the following email sja-redhill@hotmail.co.uk.

Embracing Life from conception to natural death: This weekend, as the Church marks Day for Life and reflects on the value of human life from conception to natural death, Dr Pia Matthews will speak on Ethical Issues: Beginnings and Endings, followed by discussion and refreshments. On Saturday 20th June, 10.45am–12 noon, in Canon Roe Hall, Sacred Heart Church, Caterham. Mass will be celebrated in the church at 10am for those who wish to attend.

PNL Book + Circle: Our next book is “Into the Silent Land. The Practice of Contemplation” by Martin Laird. We will discuss the book in the meeting Room at St Joseph’s centre at 8pm on Thursday 9th July. All welcome.

PARISH DAY – SUNDAY 12th JULY There will be one Mass at 10.30am, taking place outside, for all of the parish, in the grounds of St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School. (Saturday 5.30pm Mass as usual). Everyone is welcome, and you may like to bring neighbours and friends. Mass will be followed by a free BBQ, BYO drinks. There will be entertainment by our talented parishioners, and fun and games for all the family. Some parking is available at the school and there is easy access on the level for our less mobile parishioners, but consider parking at St Joseph’s Church and walking. If you can help organise the day, or be an entertainer, or offer general help, contact the parish office. Meanwhile, continue prayers for fine weather!

Our Annual Mass for our Sick and Housebound takes place at St Joseph’s on Wed 15th July, 2.00pm followed by afternoon tea. With our SVP group we make a special effort for this Mass to assist anyone who usually finds it difficult to come due to old age or frailty. If you know of anyone who would like to come, or you can help with lifts, serving refreshments etc please contact the parish office.

Communion for the Sick and Housebound: we aim for our parishioners who are sick/ housebound and unable to attend Mass to receive Holy Communion at home once a month. If you, or someone you know (with their permission) would like to be one of them contact the parish office.

Gift Aid Annual Statements of Gift Aid donations for the tax year 2025/26 have been e-mailed to all donors for whom we have an email address and all remaining state-ments have been posted If you have not received yours, please first check your Spam/Junk folder and then contact our gift aid team at pnlgiftaid@gmail.com.

Pope Leo Encyclical: The Vatican has announced that Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, was published on Mon 25th May. The document addresses artificial intelligence in relation to the protection of human dignity. In a notable first, the Holy Father was also present in person at the Vatican press conference. Parents, babies and toddlers group meets in St Joseph’s PNL Centre, on Wednesdays 10.30am. All welcome

Get Together Group meet on Saturdays at 3pm in the PNL Centre at St Joseph’s. All welcome.

The PNL Cafe will be open every Wednesday and Friday for tea and coffee from 10.30am. Everyone is welcome.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word: Held at the 11am Mass at St Joseph’s on the first Sunday of each month (except August). Numbers are limited to meet diocesan safeguarding adult/child ratios. Each child must have a parent/guardian consent form completed in advance, and attendance is registered at every session. Volunteers are welcome. SAFEGUARDING IN THE PARISH Some roles in the parish require volunteers to have a DBS check which are renewed every 3 years. Katie Jones, our Safeguarding Rep, will be contacting people if a re-check is needed. However if you are in a role in the parish and have not had a recheck or if you have any query on the DBS process please contact Katie on 01737 761017.

BEQUESTS THANK YOU We are very grateful that a number of parishioners from our three churches have assisted our parish by gifting a donation to the parish in their wills. A sheet has been prepared by the diocese outlining the wording that should be used for this. It also includes information on Foundation Masses and bequests to our diocese.
