Parish Prayer Intentions and Petitions

Prayers of Intercession

The First Sunday of Advent (year A)

30th November 2025

We pray for Pope Leo and all bishops, priests, and deacons. May they lead us, rejoicing, into the House of the Lord.

Lord in your mercy.     R. Hear our prayer.

We pray for all people that are enduring war particularly in Ukraine, the Holy Land and Sudan, may a just peace be found and that God will fill their hearts with hope.

Lord in your mercy.     R. Hear our prayer

We pray for our community; as we prepare for the coming of Christ that we may be grateful for what we have, willing to share with others and ready to challenge injustice so all people may share in the gifts of the earth.

Lord in your mercy.     R.  Hear our prayer

We pray for migrants and refugees; that they may find welcome as they search for sanctuary.

Lord in your mercy.     R. Hear our prayer

We pray for all those among us who are sick in body or mind, and for those who care for them

Lord in your mercy.     R. Hear our prayer

We pray for the repose of the souls of those who have died and whose anniversaries occur about this time. May they rest in the peace of the Lord.

Lord in your mercy.     R. Hear our prayer

Advent Prayer

Lord Jesus, Master of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas. We who have so much to do and seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day, We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us. We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom. We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence. We are your people, walking in dark-ness, yet seeking the light. To you we say, “Come Lord Jesus!’ Amen.

Henri J.M. Nouwen (1932-1996)

Prayer for Peace To the Creator of nature and man, of truth and beauty I pray: Hear my voice, for it is the voice of the victims of all wars and violence among individuals and nations; Hear my voice, for it is the voice of all children who suffer and will suffer when people put their faith in weapons and war; Hear my voice when I beg you to instil into the hearts of all human beings the wisdom of peace, the strength of justice and the joy of fellowship; Hear my voice, for I speak for the multitudes in every country and in every period of history who do not want war and are ready to walk the road of peace; Hear my voice and grant insight and strength so that we may always respond to hatred with love, to injustice with total dedication to justice, to need with the sharing of self, to war with peace. O God, hear my voice and grant unto the world your everlasting peace. ( Pope Saint John Paul II)

About Us

In May 2009 the Parish of the Nativity of the Lord was officially inaugurated by Bishop Kieran Conry, bringing together in a single united community worshippers from the former Parishes of St Joseph’s in Redhill, Holy Family in Reigate and St Teresa of the Child Jesus in Merstham. Whilst retaining its three Churches, the new Parish is administered as a single Parish under the care of Fr Tony Bridson.  Working with Fr Tony are Deacon Tim Murrill and key groups of lay representatives from the three Churches.

Thought for the week

In an age when there are so many challenges to the Christian Way, challenges to the Kingship of Christ, it is good for us to be able to celebrate this feast, for it reminds us of who we are, and it speaks of our destiny as the children of God.
