COLLECTIONS

This Weekend – Day for Life

Second Collection this weekend is for Day for Life This Sunday, 21 June, we mark Day for Life, the day in the Church’s calendar when we come together to celebrate the dignity of all human life from conception to natural death. This year’s theme is ‘The Wonder of the Child in the Womb’. A child is a gift from God to be nurtured and cher-ished, but the theme also recognises the tragedy of babies who died before birth and the grief experienced by their parents and families. See https://www.cbcew.org.uk/day-for-life/ where you can also donate online

PARISH DAY – SUNDAY 12th JULY 10.30am

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School (RH1 1EA)

There will be one Mass for Sunday 12th July at 10.30am, taking place outside, for all of the parish, in the grounds of St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School. (Saturday 5.30pm Mass as usual). Everyone is welcome, and you may like to bring neighbours and friends. Mass will be followed by a free BBQ, BYO drinks. There will be entertainment by our talented parishioners, and fun and games for all the family. Some parking is available at the school and there is easy access on the level for our less mobile parishioners, but consider parking at St Joseph’s Church and walking. Reena Clarke has stepped down from putting the event together this year (after running 6 previous days!) and undoubtedly has set the gold standard and built up the steady stream of annual volunteers who seem to just get on with it. Once again we owe her a tremendous thanks, though fortunately she is staying on in a ’consultancy role’. The Parish office is co-ordinating the day but if you can help plan, or be an entertainer, be on the first-aid team, volunteer marshal, or offer general help in the setting up of chairs, parasols etc, please contact the parish office. Meanwhile, continue prayers for fine weather !

Please keep our 90+ children in your prayers over the next few weekends as they receive Jesus in Holy Communion for the first time. May the Gift of Jesus in the Eucharist help them, their families, and all of us, to grow in faith as we imitate the Lord in his good service in all things.

Thinking about becoming a Catholic, or maybe want to be confirmed as an adult? We run informal ‘Come and see’ sessions looking at different aspects of our faith. Please contact the parish office for more information

Thought for the week

We can experience joy in difficult circumstances only if our lives are rooted in a relationship with God as a loving Father.
